2.5D animated paintings.
I put this together a few days ago, researching ways to explain my "animated painting" process for animatics. Working very hard to put these tutorials together.Mostly 2D digital painting based-- very little 3D (other than using it as a canvas to showcase the 2D art in a 3D space. Program is Lightwave (using transparency channels/alpha maps) while art is painted digitally in photoshop and projected onto the polygons . This is a low res preview.
Werewolf transformation.
Hi, guys... Just dropping in real quick to share some more WIP-- This is a loose work in progress of an "animated painting" style animatic. The pipeline is Photoshop/Lightwave 3D/after effects. I will be doing tutorials soon on this, and they will be found at: Lightwave is available here: They do have a 30 day trial. I will also be making some of my assets available so that you can view them in these programs. This process is mostly geared toward my quest to find a faster way of doing animatics in my day work. It is not supposed to look real, nor is it supposed to be anything like 3D cgi animation. This mostly for concept art and preproduction presentation stuff. Literally, there are only days to do an animatic, so I am always looking for a fast way to work through them. No sound. Again, just dropping by real quick to share! :) Thanks for following.
animating the werewolf WIP
Sorry- no sound again. Pretty much doing a "post and run" so I can back to work. Just wanna share. I am looking into creating tutorials on this process which I will post here: Slowly working on bits and pieces of this between other projects. Here is some more WIP. Basically, 2.5D. Or-- an animated painting. Created/painted in photoshop. Art is then projected on polygons in Lightwave. 3D shaders are turned off. Transparency channels are involved for the hair.. And there is a feature in LW Layout called "save trans object" that has a huge role in this pipeline. It's for doing fast and furious animated concept art-- i.e. animatics. Lastly, edits in After Effects with additional art layers.

What do you think of this concept? More to come. And I will be providing tutorials soon at:

Real time videos of this art can be found here:

Here is a painting I almost completed a year ago… Then, I lost all of the PSD work files. So this week, I decided to just do a screen grab of the last video and finish it. This is based on my old youtube video, “Speed Painting Werewolf Lurking” found here:   I did the original about 10 years ago, and was curious how I might do the pose now. Personally, it didn’t come out as good as I would have hoped it would.
Check out a 3D version here:

Anyway— real-time was about 4 and half hours, and I created it by using a Wacom Intros 3 tablet.

I'm curious now, could you make my OC look photo-realistic?
graydama Featured By Owner Feb 4, 2017  Hobbyist Writer
Hello dear! Just thought I would let you know since you're new that, in general, artist will only draw OCs or other characters if paid. Even then some artist don't take commissions because of their own busy schedules. Reviewing the artist page is the quickest way to find out if they are open for commissions or not. Hope this helps! :D

It's probably redundant to say that your work is beautiful, but it is.
I've been following your youtube uploads, and they've really been helping me get better at my own work c:
